Stronger Legs, Happier Knees
Why Strength Training Matters for Your Knees
If you’re in your 50s or beyond and you’ve started noticing that your knees feel stiff, achy, or even painful, especially after sitting for a while or going downstairs you’re not alone. But here’s the good news: it’s not just “aging,” and there’s a lot you can do to feel better.
The Real Reason Your Knees Might Hurt
Many women assume knee pain is just a natural part of getting older. But in many cases, it’s not your age, it’s muscle weakness around the knees, hips, and core. When your glutes, quads, and hamstrings aren’t strong enough to support your joints, your knees take on more strain than they should.
Why Strength Training is the Solution
Strengthening the muscles that support your knees improves alignment, reduces pressure on the joints, and can even relieve stiffness and pain. You don’t need to jump into high-impact workouts, simple moves like:
Squats with a sit to stand modification
Quad Taps
Hinges with a bridge modification
…can be incredibly effective, especially when done consistently. Check out the videos and be sure to use proper form.
The Power of Progression
Start slowly and build up. As your muscles get stronger, your balance, joint health, and confidence will grow too.
